Ben Cook has been our Director of Tennis since September of 2008, coming to us from Woodside Plantation Country Club in Aiken, SC where he started as the Director of Tennis in 1998. Ben is a lifelong South Carolinian, having grown up in Kershaw, SC with four years of boarding school at The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After an outstanding junior tennis career in the Palmetto State and graduating from Baylor, Ben signed to play tennis at the University of South Carolina, where he helped the Gamecocks to two NCAA appearances and was the team MVP his senior year. After college, he has won various state, sectional, and national titles, most recently winning the USTA Mixed Doubles 40s Championships in October of 2019. As a player, Ben was well known for his all-around game, with outstanding volleys and service returns. In recent years, Ben has been playing the historical game of Court Tennis, where he has won three national titles and represented the United States Bathurst Cup team twice in international competition in England and Tasmania. Ben is a past board member of USTA / South Carolina and is the current Head of the USCTA Bathurst Cup Committee. In his free time, Ben enjoys following his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks, his New York Yankees, and also being an avid golfer. He and his wife Amy have one son, Conor age 5.
